The client
Limeflight is a one of a kind SAAS solution that revolutionizes inflight logistic management. It provides a cutting-edge software design in collaboration with airlines and meal providers to assure seamless meal management systems from the ground to aircraft.
The challenge
The novelty of the software gave us a chance to conduct research from scratch, and jog our design thinking skills. The most prominent challenges that we needed to tackle were:
- Familiarizing ourselves with inflight terminologies.
- Simplifying task flows, despite the complex information architecture
- Ensuring a frictionless inventory exploring experience, owing to the multitude of available options.
All the modules presented a different yet interconnected challenge. Which meant taking great care while designing intuitive solutions that would seamlessly run parallel to each other.
The solution
Some notable solutions derived were:
- Designing a two-tiered navigation system that eases user flow along the website.
- Color coding nested systems to make it intuitive for eyes to track and identify different types of items.
- Incorporating tools such as advanced filtering, featuring multi-level range selection and customizable sorting capabilities to facilitate data organization in a user friendly way.
- Including elaborate diagrams replicating the inside of airplanes, specifically meal storage areas, to visualize meal management in real time and effectively communicate needs.
Since the application had complex user flows, we did a holistic analysis.
User Journey
We started developing user journey maps for each targeted module. Finding ways to understand and empathize with the users.
Through this we identified key touch points and what features to incorporate while simultaneously being mindful of the number of screens and the project timeline.
Sketches & Wireframes
After the initial analysis the team moved onto more tangible parts of the design, sketching to come up with multiple ideas from which the best functioning ones were selected for further development.
Designing User Interface
We worked on creating an interface that reflected the clients wishes, which was a dynamic yet accessible design.
We came up with sleek looking screens that were user friendly and intuitive.
The LimeFlight platform is a highly detailed one, therefore we curated a thorough design library and design system to ensure consistency.
Load Planning
This was a tricky problem to be solved, but after iterative ideation and sketching we got to an ingenious and interactive solution, which was drawing plane layouts digitally.
We were able to accomplish replicating the interiors of aircrafts with customization options. Expandable diagrams of exactly where things are to be loaded turned out to be a reliable solution to manage all loading plans in the aircraft efficiently.
Meal Planning
Meal planning is one of the most important modules of Limeflight. We curated a sustainable yet efficient system which would overlook the entirety of meals served in flights and monitor the entire backend process: which comprises knowing meal ratios, meal rules and in flight schedules.
We have achieved an automated meal ordering and meal cycle configuration system. Another accomplishment which aligns with the business practice is being able to analyze data to reduce food waste.
All this is done while taking care of the inflight service meal policies and quality assurance.
Platform
Synchronizing the catalog for all external materials which was very detailed and complicated is where we had to practice intuitive design techniques and take help of color coding and smart tagging and labels to ease identification and processing of the copious amounts of data.
We also incorporated breadcrumbs so that whilst navigating within the nested data users could keep track of their status in the system.
Inventory Management
Forecasting seemed like the correct answer to inventory management problems. Getting this right was a complex task, which was sorted by the inclusion of a real time map in the design.
With its help users could stay updated about the stock counts and transfer order details from different locations.
This is an inclusive structure which simplifies otherwise complicated systems into one, and moreover proves to be a sustainable business model.

Website Interface Designing
For the website redesign our goal was to create a clean and corporate look yet keep it simple and easy to understand, keeping in touch with our target audience which are small and large scale airlines.
We focused on a modern and crisp website redesign while using UX strategies to make sure all the features and complex processes are intuitive to navigate and easy to digest without losing track of yourself within the layout.
This was accomplished with the help of illustrations, iconography, widgets, and screenshots from the application. The fonts and colors used were sleek and smart to ensure a clutter free and corporate look, which was in accordance with the getting things done efficiently- personality of the business.
